The Fish and Wildlife Technician III is responsible for the daily maintenance of infrastructure and habitat manipulation/creation on over 4200 acres of state-owned properties at the Doug Travis Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and the West Kentucky WMA.
The employee will work under the supervision of the WMA Wildlife Foreman in completing various habitat projects, ground maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for the habitat management activities such as:
strip mowing and disking, preparing food plots, and chemical application to meet habitat management goals on assigned WMAs.
Safely and efficiently operates vehicles, tractors, ATVs, and other equipment as necessary to complete the job tasks.
Performs maintenance and repairs on vehicles, tractors, equipment, buildings, roads, and area infrastructure.
Safely and efficiently uses the tools, parts, and the consumables.
Utilizes and understands Fleet Management policies for vehicle use, maintenance and repairs, and agency policies for purchases.
Maintains maintenance logs on vehicles and equipment.
Facilitates and assists with various the public hunts and events on WMAs.
Interacts professionally with the public during managed hunts, events, and during daily work activities.
Assists with the collection of biological data and wildlife survey/monitoring activities.
Attends trainings and maintains certifications as directed such as RX fire qualifications and Pesticide Applicators certification.
Maintains administrative records and reports including prompt submission of timesheets, activity logs, and receipts.
Maintains equipment inventories, and promptly responds to supervisor requests for information/products.

Highly qualified individuals will possess strong knowledge and experience in agriculture and the operation, maintenance, and light repair of agricultural equipment.
Strong public relations skills.
Knowledge of various sporting dog trials and competitions.
Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to Multi-task various job tasks.

Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification.
